Saint Catherine Medical Center Comments on Future of the Hospital

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS, PA – All the recent media attention surrounding the future of Saint Catherine prompted the following release.

Charles Brain, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Saint Catherine Medical Center stated,
“ We sincerely want to thank all of the physicians, employees and the community for their continued support of Saint Catherine Medical Center over the years.”

“We intend to do our best for our employees.” Merlyn Knapp, President and CEO stated. “We are concerned for the welfare of our employees and have been working with the local Career Link Center and other organizations to provide a program that will enable our employees access to many different organizations.” The program will be offered Wednesday, April 18th from
1:30-3:30 pm in the auditorium of Saint Catherine Medical Center and will feature organizations providing information on job retraining, adult education options, budget assistance and unemployment compensation.

Commenting on the recent Pennsylvania Department of Health inspection, Knapp stated, “ We do not agree with some of the findings and are currently working on a plan to address and appeal those findings.”

In addition, Knapp stated, “We are evaluating all future options for Saint Catherine Medical Center, including a potential sale and re-opening of the hospital.”
